Using Soccer to Spark Environmental Curiosity in Youth from Underserved Communities in Salem Oregon
This summer, CBN took 12 youth from underserved communities in Salem to the Oregon Coast—many seeing the aquarium and tidepools for the first time. Through partnerships with Oregon Coast Aquarium, Cape Perpetua Collaborative, Outdoor Afro, and View the Future, youth explored tidepools, learned about marine life, and hiked Amanda’s Trail. Using soccer as a hook, CBN creates pathways to environmental leadership and deeper connection with nature.
